To connect to a wireless network in Windows XP, you will need the following equipment:
- Broadband connection
- Broadband modem
- Wireless network adapters or wireless network card on your PC
- Wireless router
When you have the above equipment, follow these steps to connect to a wireless network:
- Right-click the wireless network connection in your taskbar.
- Click View Available Wireless Networks to open the Wireless Network Connections dialog box.
- A list of available networks will appear. If no networks are listed, click Refresh Network List in the upper-left corner.
- Highlight the network you would like to connect to.
- Click Connect.
- The network connection status will change to Acquiring Network Address, then to Connected. Once the status reads Connected, close out of the dialog box.
- After you connect to the network, Windows XP will automatically add the network to your Preferred Networks list.
